Help! I need to narrow down my wedding portfolio!

This week Caleb and I are working on version 3.1 of Irene Jones Photography Online. The update will streamline the flow of the site and direct customers to different sections based on their needs: weddings, portraits, or High School Senior Portraits. It's about this time every year that I update my portfolios anyways, but the new site is a little different and while there will be more images in total, the portfolio section will actually be smaller. This comes from the "less is more" rants given by my department head in college. I'm trying to condense it to no more then 30 AMAZING images. The problem? I'm too close to the images and can't decide. It's like trying to choose a favorite child (currently Alex but don't let the others know). So I want your help. I've posted my favorites below. Please comment on which images should stay. Also feel free to leave comments about what ones you think should go. When you're done voting please ask others to do the same! I need as many voices to help me out as possible. And please try to be descriptive so I have a clue what photo you are talking about!

I am attending the Northwest Bridal Showcase this weekend Jan. 9-10. So I'm concentrating on the wedding portfolio first. I'll do the other two later this month. When the update is complete, I'll let you know so you can check out the sleek new feel.

Oh... and I should probably should include some of Terice's work....

Can you see why I need help? How do you sum up 10 years of photography (these images are mainly from the last 2 years only) in 30 perfect shots? Don't let me down blogosphere!

Let me know if you agree or disagree at all :).

  2. Hi! I recently found your blog and absolutely love it. Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of information! I really liked the photo of the bride and groom laying on the ground with her bouquet by her side. Also the one of the bride with her mom and sister/bridesmaid one either side of her with the hills in the background. A good candid example. Lastly, I liked the one you showcased on your blog recently- the one you took laying on the ground of the bride and her attendants with the church in the background. Hope this helps!

  3. are you wanting 30 out of these that you posted or should I just choose a few that I personally really like? I could come up with 30 out of this so I can't imagine trying to pick photos out of 10 YEARS worth of great pictures!

  4. @ Mandy Either choose 30 if you're feeling adventurous, or just name your favorites. I just need a fresh pair of eyes!

You've given me something to think about. I don't think alone I would have chosen to group that specific bunch image even though many of your favorites are in my top group too. I did learn a little something about your taste though. ;)

Glad you liked the one of the Bride with her mom and bridesmaid! I almost left that one out...
The last photo you mentioned where I'm looking up at the Bride and bridesmaids is probably my favorite from the entire 2009 wedding season. It will probably be the first image when people view the portfolio. I've already enlarged it to 36x48 and will be displaying it at the two wedding shows I'm doing this month.

You're not to late Samantha. I still have to choose several photos for the other pages on the site. Thanks for the input.
